Minnesota School of Business students spruce up Honeywell field

May 26, 2010

On May 25 & 26, we were delighted to host about 40 students from the Minnesota School of Business in Brooklyn Center. They cleared planting beds, planted dozens of shrubs and perennials, and mulched.

Thank you to Michelle Barsness, service-learning coordinator at the Minnesota School of Business, Brooklyn Center and to the students in her Global Citizenship class. Because of their hard work, Honeywell field will be a more welcoming place when soccer kicks off in June.

Students listen as Mark-Peter Lundquist, Urban Ventures vice president, gives instructions for the project.

The students make quick work of planting 24 shrubs along the north fence of Honeywell field. Another 20 were planted along the east fence.

Students developed a system to efficiently load and deliver mulch to the planting beds.
